The idea of establishing a restaurant serving authentic Filipino food in Finland arose years ago for the owner couple Eloisa and Anders when the popularity of Filipino food in the world was growing, but such a concept was not yet available in Finland and it became clear later that a similar concept were Filipino food is served both as á la carte and buffet was not available in whole Europe, so we were pioneers for that.
We founded our family business in early 2018 and the opening of Restaurant Kainan, Iso Omena, was celebrated in July 2019 after several months of renovation and work equipment waiting.
For us it’s important that our chefs are native Filipinos, so that they will bring the local culture and passion for Filipino food into our dishes.
The style of food making and the food associated with it have evolved over many centuries from their Austronesian origins (shared with Malaysian and Indonesian cuisines) to a mixed cuisine of Indian, Chinese, Spanish and American influences, in line with the major waves of influence that had enriched the cultures of the archipelago, as well as others adapted to indigenous ingredients and the local palate.
Welcome to our restaurant to try new taste experiences!
